This refers to the report "Swiss government to share black money list" (June 23). Though we welcome the Swiss authorities' revised stand, the data released have put us in "guarded" optimism. A few days back an Assocham press release fixed the quantum of Indian wealth stashed in tax havens abroad at $2 trillion. It is a known fact that India tops the list, both in numbers and value of secret accounts in tax havens, with a major portion of them in Swiss banks. Most of the funds would have been withdrawn and deployed elsewhere. Proper money trailing needs to be done. The National Democratic Alliance government should declare all such funds as national assets.
