It is high time the DoT and Trai woke up to the reality of the abysmal quality of cell phone services especially those of GSM operators like Airtel, Vodafone and BPL Mobile. The authorities have for a very long time coddled these companies and looked the other way when their service quality has been deteriorating rapidly.
The call drops have become so frequent and irritating that on an average, customers are required to make 2-3 calls to complete a conversation. How about exemplary penalties on these companies? Why not bar them for say 6 months from acquiring new customers before they upgrade services to acceptable levels?
