Letters: Childhood, interrupted

Business Standard New Delhi
This refers to the article "Son, finally?" (Weekend, March 8). A father has finally accepted his son after a protracted legal battle, but what about children whose parents fight bitter divorce battles? Their plight is worse. The parent who has custody of the child ruthlessly denies the other parent the right to love and have access to the child. Why should children be denied the simple pleasures of enjoying the affection of both parents? Even the UN charter on human rights of children is silent on this issue. Matrimonial laws focus mainly on the husband and the wife. India, thus, needs a new law on shared parenting.
