UPA II seems to have got away without a vote on the issue of price rise, which was demanded by the Opposition. A vote would have jolted the government into putting its house in order. The Maoists relentlessly marauding at will, Kashmir being in endless mayhem, Pakistan taking us for a ride at the foreign ministers’ talks, government’s squabbling ministers talking out of turn and being at cross purposes with each other, insensitivity to rising food prices, etc. are some of the grave issues that the government needs to address.
The alleged nonchalant misuse of taxpayers’ money in the Commonwealth Games provides the grand icing on the first anniversary cake of UPA II. It has taken the collective wisdom of the UPA II team and many wasted days in the Lok Sabha to even commence the debate on an issue of crucial importance.
