This refers to the report “Didi decides to dump UPA” (September 19). The Congress is aware that even if the Trinamool Congress (TMC) withdraws support, it can sail through with the support of either the Samajwadi Party or the Bahujan Samaj Party. So, didi should understand that she stands to lose more by withdrawing support to the United Progressive Alliance. She should remember that it took her about a decade to make a political comeback and gain the confidence of the people of her state after she walked out of the National Democratic Alliance Cabinet in 2001. If didi really wants to do something for Bengal, she should stay put in the UPA government so as to extract maximum mileage (in lieu of her support) in the form of financial packages for her cash-starved state.
