This refers to the report “Petrol price up again, this time by '2.5”( January 16). Raising petrol prices, without even touching diesel prices, is unjustified. A major portion of diesel is consumed by industries, SUVs, high-end cars, generators, rich farmers and so on. Subsidised diesel should be made available only to bus owners and small farmers. For the rest, there shouldn’t be any subsidy.
