With the BJP now negotiating with Shibu Soren to form a government in Jharkhand, with Soren as the chief minister, one wonders what happens to all the statements the party made in Parliament and outside it about Soren.

The party’s constant refrain was that Soren was tainted, and so he should not be part of the UPA. Obviously that stand was for public consumption and now that the party is sensing it is close to some sort of victory, it is adopting a very different stance. It is unfortunate that the decision to form a government in Jharkhand, no matter what, was taken by the new BJP chief Nitin Gadkari in consultation with his predecessor Rajnath Singh.
