Apropos Sunanda K Datta-Ray column "Closed user group" (Where Money Talks, July 26), we are living in a democratic country where everyone has the right to wear what they want. At the same time, every organisation or club has a set of codes for members and they have every right to follow these codes, while the state has no business to interfere unless they are detrimental to society. As the chief minister of Tamil Nadu, J Jayalalithaa has many jobs to perform. She is popular among the people of the state with her welfare measures and efficient administration, and does not need to indulge in these petty dress-code gimmicks. Politicians and leaders should concentrate on more important matters and leave such matters of dress codes to the respective organisations.
