It was very heartening to read the article (“SOBs’ turn to smile”, February 6) on the transformation of the State Owned Banks (SOBs!) and how they have not just beaten the private and foreign banks, their model is the one being emulated now.
This should go to show that the public sector can deliver if it is given a chance to perform. And the interesting thing is that all of this has happened even as these PSU banks have to recruit on the basis of political diktats and very often even the lending has political overtones.
