Apropos the report “Govt opens FDI floodgates for global airlines and retailers” (September 15), the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), when it was in power, had championed the very same reforms that it is against today. The BJP can neither conduct its internal affairs nor bring in a level of maturity to the national political discourse. In the US, too, the Republican Party is trying to do the same thing. With its one-point agenda to dethrone Obama, it has held the US economy to ransom for over two years by blocking important legislation. To his credit, the prime minister has still managed to take bold steps and initiate some key policy measures.
