With reference to Ishan Bakshi's piece, "The manufacturing conundrum" (February 4), manufacturing in India should be labour-intensive, as the country is a big market in terms of consumption.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has done well to bring in more investment, but the country is still not generating enough jobs. We should set up more manufacturing industries to generate more employment, whether among skilled, semi-skilled or unskilled people.
The Union Budget must list policies that encourage and incentivise domestic manufacturing in the spirit of the Make in India initiative.
