The campaign by BCCI-IPL to malign Lalit Modi is getting quite sick. It is obvious that their main aim is to ensure none of the muck goes up to other politicians. But now they’re pointing to how actors like Shilpa Shetty are not even owners of the franchises their names are associated with. For one, what was IPL’s governing council doing all this while. All of them need to be sacked if they didn’t know what was happening. Second, it is clear that Shilpa Shetty’s husband has bought into Rajasthan Royals through a company registered in Mauritius. So, what is the IPL council going on about? As for Mauritius, the government allows investments to come in from there, and many top Indian industrialists are operating through firms registered in Mauritius. Most FII money comes in through Mauritius. So, what is the big fuss if IPL investments are routed through that country?
