This refers to the article “Can Naresh Goyal reinvent Jet Airways?” (October 5). The jet story simply highlights how incompetent some of the supposed luminaries of the airline business in India are. Kingfisher can’t seem to pay its bills on a monthly basis and Goyal keeps flitting from this idea to that. Mallya, however, really takes the cake. He has shown his contempt for both his investors, his business and his lenders while gallivanting about with models. If he wants to be a playboy he should learn from the example set by Richard Branson who not only was a visionary in his field and a playboy but also managed to build one of the world’s iconic airlines. Or from Tony Fernandes of Air Asia who actually checks passengers in by himself. Can you imagine the pampered inheritor of an empire, Mallya, doing something like that?
