Finally, there has been a breakthrough in policy making in New Delhi. The new policy on foreign direct retail (FDI) in multi-brand retail is welcome. There are bound to be oppositions to such initiatives but the government should not give in to these. These are the same people who opposed the introduction of automation and new technologies in agriculture. Eventually, the children of these people opposing automation got jobs in the IT industry, and enjoyed food security. History will, indeed, repeat itself.
