Letters: Ill-intended proposal

Business Standard New Delhi
With reference to the thought-provoking editorial, "A welcome withdrawal" (September 23), the question that arises is who created this mindless draft of the National Encryption Policy in the first place and who approved it before putting it in the public domain. Was it done without the approval of the information technology and communication minister? If that's so, he must submit his papers owning moral responsibility.

Such an ill-intended proposal in the name of security concerns reminds us of the dark days of the Emergency. One wonders how any democratic government can think of mortgaging the personal lives of its citizens in this manner.
