Apropos the report “Indian CEOs inching closer to global salaries” (March 2), it would be interesting to know whether the benefits of higher salaries is percolating down the organisational levels — is the ratio between the highest and the lowest paid employee also coming down? If not, our corporate honchos engender grave inequity inasmuch as they are making the best of organisational performance for their own good, but when the failure of their business strategy leads to downsizing, the lower echelons lose their jobs for less fault of theirs.
