This refers to Subir Gokarn's column "From bottleneck to bottleneck" (Muddy Waters, March 11). Although India has the intellectual capacity, strength and ability to fuel the next industrial revolution, it has miles to go to scale new heights on the industrial front. To start with, India has to fare well on one important indicator - productivity. The other big obstacles are administrative and governance-related. In this context, India should learn from Maldives, which follows a belief-in-business-over-bureaucracy principle. Good governance, sans corruption, is vital for India to achieve growth and development.
