This refers to Sanjaya Baru’s column “Jairam Ramesh has a point” (April 25). Unnecessary criticism and protests against industrial projects should not be allowed to impede economic growth. Any disruption to business houses is not only an immediate setback to the owners but will also severely impact all those dependent on it for their livelihood.
There should be no place for false propaganda while raising concerns for the environment. Also, it is the government’s responsibility to issue strict rules and regulations while issuing permits. As Rabindranath Tagore said, “Science has given man immense power. The golden age will return when it is used in the service of humanity.”
