In the article “Control your food. It’s your business” (October 11), Sunita Narain has raised an important issue but discussed it only in the context of the West. She has ignored the vital factors dominating India. Besides polluted air, contaminated water and pesticides, there is a big and flourishing fake food business in India. We often come across media reports about raids in which large quantities of fake milk, butter, cheese, edible oils, spices, ice-cream, bread, etc. are recovered. How any Food Safety and Accountability Act and regulators can contain all this is the big question. Let Sunita Narain come out with a solution to the problem.
