This refers to the report "Govt won't appeal in Vodafone case" (January 30). The Cabinet decision to not appeal in the transfer pricing case is pragmatic and applaudable. This decision has come at the appropriate time and sends out a signal to foreign investors that India is staying positive in its approach towards making the country a healthy investment destination.
However, a revisit to the imposed tax will be apt to ensure that there is no evasion and leakage in the tax revenues to the government and to reveal the clarity of the decision.
At this juncture, such an investor-friendly decision will certainly attract large-scale private investment to India.
