This refers to ‘German court sells Reliance’s bankrupt unit’, October 1. This marks the sad end to one of the most innovative polyester manufacturers we have seen.
Trevira GmbH was acquired by Reliance in 2004. The company was the pioneer in automobile textiles, flame retardant polyester which had contributed to development of defence, safety and medical textiles and was once part of Hoechst AG. Reliance, which acquired the plant in 2004, failed to turn it around in a depressed textile market in Europe.
Trevira is like Jaguar in automobiles, an iconic brand with an impeccable brand image.
