Now that Slumdog has got 8 Oscars, the critics of the movie will find more ammunition! The argument made was that, while India continues to do well even in the face of a global meltdown, a foreign director chose to focus on India’s warts. The fact that a foreign jury has given it so many awards will now ensure even those who have not seen it will now see it. India’s warts have now become truly global.
