If the BJP emerges as the single-largest party after the results are out and is still not able to cobble together a coalition, it will only have itself to blame. It has continued to harp on the same anti-Muslim slogans and even encouraged a rabble-rouser like Varun Gandhi. Comparing Godhra with the anti-Sikh riots may suit the BJP and its supporters, but two wrongs don’t make a right. Senior Congressmen, including Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, have apologised for it, but no BJP leader has done the same for Godhra.
