The Commonwealth Games have finally kicked off. The opening ceremony was a grand success. People had lots of doubts about the success of the Games, some of which persist. My opinion is not based on media reports. It is based on Right to Information (RTI) replies. In RTI replies from various departments in Delhi, I have observed that they have hardly spent 50 per cent of the amount on various work from the amount they had been allotted. It shows that the departments had enough money and resources, but didn’t utilise them. If anything goes wrong during the Games, the officers of various government departments would be responsible. I would also appeal to more people to file RTI applications for information on the Commonwealth Games and expose corrupt practices.
