Business Standard New Delhi

This refers to Devangshu Datta’s column “Waiting to explode” (Viewpoint, November 3). The magnitude of the apocalypse that nuclear weapons could bring to the world is unimaginable. There are large numbers of secret and illegal nuclear programmes being carried out in Pakistan, Iran and North Korea. Pakistan’s nuclear scientist A Q Khan has already given a secret nuclear proliferation support to North Korea and Iran. Hence, the real nuclear threat are these countries. It is the responsibility of the UN atomic watchdog to take a tough stand against them. Also, other countries should work in tandem and keep a check on such dangerous acts.
