Apropos the editorial "Behind AAP's sweep" (February 11), after receiving a huge mandate in the Delhi Assembly elections, it is now time for the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) to deliver on its promises.

AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal must understand that he will have certain limitations as chief minister of Delhi, which the chief ministers of other states don't have. The two core issues - the Jan Lokpal Bill and full statehood for Delhi with security - which formed the crux of AAP's manifesto, sadly, will remain as just promises in the near future.

First, AAP can pass the Jan Lokpal Bill but it cannot become a law without the approval of the Central government. Second, the promise to get full statehood for Delhi and bring the police under its control is difficult to deliver because the Constitution does not allow the Delhi government control over the subjects of land, police and public order. Similar promises on which Delhi is disempowered will have to face many hurdles before they are fulfilled.

Thus, instead of sitting on a dharna, AAP must behave like a ruling party and focus on getting the low-hanging fruits that can be delivered steadily and easily.
