A developing story”, March 27, was a truly heart-warming account of young professionals who are developing mobile phone applications which are of use to everyone — the mobile phone locator for the nearest ATM and the phone-based detectors for alcohol and metal were two examples I found very useful. What is especially interesting is that these “apps”, as they are called, are not being developed by software engineers hired by big firms, instead they are being developed by a host of small independents of the type that you have profiled.
While your feature was a great way to publicise this, the mobile phone companies need to give publicity to it themselves as that will encourage those with a good idea and the ability to convert it into reality to contact these firms. Keep up the good work and continue to report on such offbeat stories, which provide a window to what is happening in the country and, at the same time, keep up your hope.
