This refers to Veenu Sandhu's article "At work and happy" (BS Weekend, January 31). More and more organisations are realising that their workforce is very young and exposed to a lot of work-related stress at an early age. So, they are coming out with programmes that ensure a work-life balance. But these organisations need to realise that more than work-life balance, it is time to embrace a work-life combination.
What employees really need is a job that can blend in with their lives and values. Today, even after stepping out of office, an employee's mind is preoccupied with work-related issues and problems. He/she might come out with a creative solution outside the confines of office. The need of the hour is employee-friendly policies that will merge the employees' work with their lives. These policies will not only keep them happy, but also help them grow physically, mentally and emotionally.
