The seizure of a huge stock of pulses from hoarders in various states has been widely reported in the media. But in the absence of stringent punitive action against such unscrupulous people, what is the point of such seizures? No government seems to have the guts to initiate criminal cases against these hoarders.
Let us hope that this time the chief ministers of the states from where the pulses were seized as well as the agricultural ministry at the Centre will take appropriate steps to stop this brazen loot of foodgrain.
