A Raja wants to know why he is in jail. Simple. As telecom minister, he was responsible for implementing the policy he “inherited”: only those experienced in telecom are entitled to operator licences.There were over 100 applicants, some with considerable experience in telecom, but Raja chose to give licences to companies with questionable eligibility.

Since he cannot defend the core allegations against him, Raja has chosen to ask questions entirely unconnected with the main issue. And has he any evidence that the then finance minister and prime minister had influenced him to choose Unitech or DB Realty over other applicants?
