<b>Letters:</b> Not good enough?

It would be interesting to know on what technical grounds India’s top three IT firms — TCS, Infosys and Wipro — were rejected for the UID project. For long, these have been touted as companies that are of global standard and that, over a period of time, they will be among the top IT firms in the world. That they should have been rejected on technical grounds is curious. The UID project team would have had strong reasons for doing what it has, but there is a lesson to be learnt here — if the firms have some shortcomings, they need to work on them.
