In the article “Lovers leap into film” (March 4), Debaleena Sengupta asserts that Sesher Kabita has not been adapted into a film until now and that there was a TV version of it in 2010. But the novel was, in fact, made into a film in the late fifties. The film was directed by Madhu Bose, Amit’s role was enacted by Nirmal Kumar and Labanya’s by Dipti Roy. But such vintage information is available only with septuagenarians and octogenarians. It was a hit film for us at that time.
