Letters: One-sided view

I strongly disagree with the stand that you’ve taken in “Mr Modi’s stand with SIT”, March 10. Whatever happened in the aftermath of the massacre — and let us not fall for the story that the fire inside the railway coach started on its own — is deplorable, but the English-language media (regrettably, this includes Business Standard) is taking a stand on Modi appearing before the court of law. It is not fair to pronounce him guilty in a trial by the media. At the same time, there is no sustained campaign to bring those responsible for the 1984 riots to book. The culprits are part of the ruling party and their only claim to fame is that they are “loyal” to the powers that be.

This also shows, in the larger scheme of things, the bankruptcy of informed debate. The editorial is a one-sided mythical construction of a tired mind that definitely needs a course correction; it’s never too late!
