T N Ninan's piece, "Pigs on two feet" (January 30), is a brilliant allegory for the decades-old one-upmanship between the Congress, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Communists (in West Bengal). Each tries to outdo the others in playing politics with all the institutions. Even the Congress' disruption of Parliament was the party's way of giving it back to the BJP in its own coin.
In all this, the ordinary citizen gets squeezed. Each of the three is so engaged in calling the others names that none of their cupboards is unlikely to be bare just yet.
As George Orwell's Animal Farm plays out in India, the country can go to the dogs for sure.
