Your edit “Flawed judgement” (July 6) has pointed out that the Supreme Court’s interference in matters of governance is not healthy. But when the executive is so weak, the judiciary has to step up and act on its behalf. At the same time, the judiciary should take cognisance of the delay in our justice system. However, the present trends in governance – like civil society assuming the power to draft a Bill – point to the weakness of the current government and its failure to take timely action.
