Letters: PR knowledge

Business Standard New Delhi

This refers to the letter to Business Standard “Questionable Candour” (April 13) by P Datta. The letter makes sweeping statements and undermines the good work done by the communication industry.

It is a well-known fact that Niira Radia owns Vaishnavi Corporate Communications and the company has been engaged by most of the Tata Group companies to handle their communication strategies. A public relations agency is required to formulate their client’s communication strategies and implement them through various media platforms. This cannot be achieved for such huge industry players as the Tatas without significant investment in manpower, infrastructure, technical and managerial expertise. Mr Datta’s statement to the contrary proves his poor knowledge and understanding of the communication industry.
