This refers to the editorial “Jobs and skills” (January 28). It would be interesting to know if the mushrooming of private vocational training institutes in Haryana is really a big and sustainable story. One is not sure if the concept, being based on no-profit, can really attract the kind of huge investments that are needed, looking to the yawning gap in the supply and demand for skilled manpower. Why not allow private for-profit ventures to step in since that would be the only long-term solution to the problem?
