It is unfortunate that even independent directors of the stature of Vinod Dham should have allowed the Satyam management to attempt to defraud the company. Other worthies include the head of the most high-profile business school in the country. There should be an immediate move to boycott these high-profile independent directors. We must not allow them to put a cover on their misdeeds by simply resigning from the Satyam board. At the very least, they must be asked to return the sitting fees they received over the past many years; there must also be some unofficial sort of ban on allowing any of them to get other independent directorships.
