This refers to the article “Hunger strike or blackmail?” (April 23) by T Thomas. The author misses the point. The hunger strike was undertaken because it was part of Gandhiji’s arsenal to focus public opinion on a particular issue. It was not to solve corruption but to push for the implementation of one of the means for eliminating it —which is the Lok Pal Bill.
Mr Thomas concludes his article by suggesting ways to eliminate corruption but leaves the question he raises in the headline unanswered.
