Letters: Rahul's sabbatical

Business Standard New Delhi
Apropos the report "Rahul's 'introspection' leave stirs party anger" (February 24), one wonders why everyone is taken aback by Congress Vice-President Rahul Gandhi's move to go on a sabbatical. Is it not routine to go on a vacation or take a long break when one is stressed out or wants to be with friends and family?

Thrust into the limelight at an early age, Gandhi is certainly feeling the burden on his young shoulders. The rout of the Grand Old Party in the Lok Sabha elections and the party faring poorly in the recent Assembly elections, besides drawing a blank in Delhi, have also taken its toll. One hopes that the break will do Gandhi a world of good.
