Nilanjana Roy’s take on libraries and literary festivals (Speaking Volumes, July 17) was amusing. She has fittingly raised concern that many cities in India host literary festivals but few actually support writers and readers. I feel, however, that her description of city lit fests as “tamashas” is not in good taste. Her argument for access-to-all public libraries and for creating a support system for writers and readers is a good one, especially for lovers of literature and reading enthusiasts like me.
