This refers to ‘Needed: a privacy law’ September 29. I am sure you know that when we Indians apply for a visa, we supply western embassies three years of bank statements and tax returns and property deeds. Where does this information go? To VFS, which is a private agency. I have been protesting against this and have refused to travel to these countries on the grounds that such requirements are aimed only at some countries, mostly coloured. Why should a foreign government ask for such private information and then hand it over to a private agency? Why don’t you raise your voice against this, especially since our government does not ask for similar information from foreign nationals because it is too faint-hearted?
