Real estate developers crying for ‘poor labourers losing jobs’ is a classic example of masquerading one’s business goals as social intentions. There is no denying that the real estate slump would hit the workers badly. However, the developers have made obscene money over the years by colluding and charging exorbitant prices.

The companies in the sector should be asked to pay from their own pocket rather than asking the government to compensate them for their flawed business model.
