These days it seems like it has become a fad for noted economists and eminent citizens to write open letters to the government. However, these letters seldom present any workable solution. Take for example the latest letter written by influential business leaders on having a UK-type Anti-Bribery Act. The letter pointed out that there are about 30 million cases pending in Indian courts and that something should be done about it. I am sure the government is already aware of this fact. So instead of stating the obvious, open letters should focus more on providing new solutions.
