The government of India's approval of field trials of 200 genetically modified crops is good news. The naysayers will, of course, behave in a militant fashion, and plan attacks on the trials. Their network must be already flexing muscles. This is where the government should step in. Scientists have already approved the approach taken by the government, so now politicians from other parties should also show their support for this decision.
