Although Samajwadi Party (SP) supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav has managed to prevent his son Akhilesh Yadav and brother Shivpal Yadav from rocking the party's boat, it is clear that the storm has not blown over yet. The reinstatement of Shivpal Yadav as party chief has only raised the hackles of the supporters of his young chief minister son and made them take to the streets in droves.
Not content to rest on his laurels, the chief minister has asserted that as the party's state parliamentary board president he would like to have greater power in ticket distribution. With Uttar Pradesh heading to the Assembly polls soon and both the Bharatiya Janata Party and the Congress waiting to pounce on any opportunity to make inroads, the SP leaders have their task cut out in getting their act together.
