The Congress may be relieved that it has finally brought the BJP on board as far as the nuclear liability Bill is concerned (“N-liability Bill in this session of Parliament,” August 18) and the concessions are certainly generous, especially the one enhancing the operator’s liability cap to Rs 1,500 crore, though there are questions over whether this is enough. It is also worth wondering how smoothly things will function if a mishap does occur in one of our nuclear power plants. The experience of Bhopal does not increase our confidence in this respect.
