This refers to J Jagannath’s book review “Reading, RIP” (July 14). I completely agree with Jagannath when he says “now is the time when people should be reading more than anytime else.” In fact, I sincerely believe that there cannot be a better substitute to reading. I know a couple of friends who, even today, read like the protagonist of Frank Conroy’s memoir Stop-Time. I, too, do not let a day pass by without reading something, fiction or non-fiction. “The lost art of reading” is a misnomer as one writes a book to discuss this habit and I am sure this review will induce many to read the book. In my experience, I have found that reading is therapeutic and empowering.
