With reference to the report, "Nitish sworn in as Bihar CM" (November 21), a person with credibility and ability can change the face of the institution he represents. Nitish Kumar possesses the administrative acumen and progressive and development-oriented attitude required in a chief minister. He has proved his ability in the past and given a free hand now, he can continue building Bihar.
But the point is that Kumar's steady rise is something that coalition partner, the Rashtriya Janata Dal and its chief Lalu Prasad, may find discomforting. How will Prasad adjust to this new environment where he is not in charge? What kind of support he extends to Kumar will be crucial in determining the fate of Bihar.
