Letters: The MOOCs issue

Image

Business Standard New Delhi
The hype over massive open online courses or MOOCs as the holy grail of education over the coming half century leaves one feeling sad because this is another revolution that will most likely bypass India, partly due to the shortcomings of her democratic construct. The 2G scam has basically ensured that the regulator and the government will now treat the telecom sector as nothing more than a cash cow for some time to come. Resultantly, the average classroom is going to have to shell out an exorbitant $2/GB in today's money for streaming video coaching, which is asking for too much. As usual, the burden will fall on the poorest children.
